McClard for Raymond NH State Rep

About

Harry started his career as a lab technician with a nuclear fuel manufacturer, analyzing nuclear fuel purity and isotope content. In 1973, he accepted a position as field engineer with a Boston scientific apparatus company, based in Atlanta but traveling throughout North America. In 1975, he was transferred to the Boston area headquarters and advanced to National Service Manager. In 1983, he joined a startup company as Field Engineering Manager and advanced to Vice President in 1984. In 1994, he formed an Amherst, NH, scientific instrument and field engineering business. He relocated to the seacoast area in late 2000, and his business is now based in Raymond.

All was not golden and as-planned though. At one point, he accepted a position as regional manager based in Teheran, Iran, very shortly before the Shah fell and expulsion of all USA businesses, causing a short time of "gosh... what did I do?" thinking and goal recalibration. And, in 1990, he accepted the position of Technical Director of a joint venture startup in St. Petersburg, Russia, only to encounter the crash of the Russian economy and bureaucratic nightmares "on both sides of the pond" that caused the venture to fall apart. These were character-building issues that at the time seemed quite dire but, in the long term, they were character-shaping events that made him a much better and stronger leader.

During his career until the past few years, his professional life required very heavy travel and living away from home... South America, China, Russia, Europe, the mid East, etc. The travel was severe enough that there were years in which time at-home was less than 20 days in a full year.

In 2003, he made a commitment to revamp the business and minimize the travel. His current primary business is as a licensed home inspector.

In addition, he is an independent contractor for FEMA providing disaster housing inspections. This work has included New Orleans, Galveston, Nashville, and others.

During this entire time, he was interested in local politics wherever he was working and at home. Experiencing Communism (even in the USSR prior to 1983) and various forms of Socialism "up close and personal" lead to most of his current thinking and policy positions. He is committed to our Democratic system and "personal responsibility" and he is acutely aware of how policies currently being forced downward from Washington to the states and on to the localities negatively affect our lives.

Harry is a New Hampshire Justice of the Peace and provides those services when needed from his office in Raymond.

He is also a freelance writer and journalist, which he has enjoyed for about 20 years.
